Now in its seventh edition, the MiraTone Festival and Academy – founded by violinist Miranda Liu – has become one of Central Europe’s most vibrant classical music events. Each year, it brings together internationally acclaimed artists and passionate young musicians in the heart of Budapest.
This concert explores the friendship and musical kinship of two remarkable Central European composers: Ernő Dohnányi and Ľudovít Rajter. Opening with Dohnányi’s striking Passacaglia for solo flute, the evening continues with Rajter’s expressive Second String Quartet and Dohnányi’s masterful Second String Quartet in D-flat major.
The performers – flutist Noémi Győri and the V4 String Quartet – are devoted to rediscovering and championing lesser-known chamber works from the region. Both Dohnányi and Rajter were deeply involved in shaping Hungarian and Slovak musical life throughout the 20th century.
This programme is not only a musical tribute but also a historical journey into the personal and artistic ties that shaped the region's cultural heritage.
