Ági Szalóki's children's concert on Mothers' Day

Ági Szalóki's children's concert on Mothers' Day

Audiences of children are playful, carefree, spontaneous and, in the best sense of the word, uninhibited: this is what attracts Ági Szalóki to the world of the little, littler and littlest ones and kept her going back there for a good decade and a half.

Ági Szalóki's children's concert on Mothers' Day
Age: 3-8 year

The winner of numerous recognitions, including the Liszt Award, Szalóki has had role models and teachers like Márta Sebestyén, Mihály Dresch and Béla Szakcsi Lakatos to help determine and shape her career. Her repertoire runs the gamut from early, folk and world music to the treasure trove of Transylvanian folk melodies and jazz. Her chiefly child-oriented line-up is also remarkable in how it also addresses adults: music, rhythm, lyrics, melody and a spot-on atmosphere are things that everyone can enjoy, regardless of age. Released in 2014, Szalóki's 'family musical book' Körforgás will serve as the core of the concert, with the vocalist singing poems by Attila Jószef, Virág Erdős, Anna Szabó T., Tamás Jónás and others. The roots of this diverse musical world can be found in the cultural traditions of Hungary, Africa, India and the Roma. The concert will also feature songs from her earlier now-classic mature albums: Cipity Lawrence, the 2010 Fonogram Award-winning (as children's album of the year) Gingalló and Téli-nyári laboda. What makes this concert special is that, because it falls on Mother's Day, the singer is preparing a bouquet of songs suited to the occasion. At her children's concerts, Szalóki also sings poems by Attila József, Ágnes Nemes Nagy, Sándor Kányádi, Virág Erdős, Anna Szabó T. and Tamás Jónás.
