Now in its seventh edition, the MiraTone Festival and Academy – founded by violinis Miranda Liu – has become one of Central Europe’s most vibrant classical music events. Each year, it brings together internationally acclaimed artists and passionate young musicians in the heart of Budapest.
The concert begins with Bach’s immortal Chaconne – a work of astonishing emotional range, written for solo violin yet containing an entire universe of expression. At once prayerful, dramatic, and cathartic, it is one of the most powerful declarations of the human spirit in music. It is followed by Alexandre Delgado’s Langará, a powerful and rhythmically charged piece by the Portuguese composer, and then a world premiere: a new trio by the celebrated Hungarian composer Csanád Kedves, written especially for the MiraTone Festival. Slovak composer Eugen Suchoň’s Serenade for Strings, with its lyrical warmth and romantic atmosphere, concludes the first half of the concert, performed by the MiraTone Ensemble. After intermission, the V4 String Quartet will join forces with Ján Krigovský to perform Antonín Dvořák’s String Quintet in G major, Op. 77 – a joyful, deeply expressive work filled with lyrical themes and folk-inspired beauty.
