Nálunk leginkább a Grimm-testvérek átiratában ismert, amelyben a gyermek után áhítozó házaspár egyszer csak egy csoda folytán hüvelyknyi kisfiút kap. A nem mindennapi gyermek számos kaland során bizonyítja eszességét, és azt, hogy kis mérete ellenére megállja helyét az emberek között.
