The delight we desire, and the sin we fear. The two choreographies of János Feledi, an awardee of the Hungarian Academy of Art’s Scholarship Programme, are based on essential stories that have inspired countless poets, playwrights, and composers for centuries since antiquity. Roland Szentpáli’s composition, which had its premiere last year, conjures up the tale of Orpheus, the musician and poet who descends into the underworld for his love, with an energy that is reminiscent of rock music. The music of this production was recorded at that premiere, with Gábor Hollerung conducting the Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok.
The evocation of Electra’s tragedy is based on the drama of Euripides and the opera of Richard Strauss, and as in the great predecessors, the struggle is between reconciliation, revenge, and insanity induced by a tormented conscience.
Like every classic tale, the history of Electra, Orestes, Clytemnestra, and the others poses questions that concern us all – though this time no one will appear, feel, and behave as they did in previous versions of the myth.

The Garden of Lights will once again invite visitors to the magical world of a wonderful, cultic fairy tale in the Budapest Füvészkert for the 2025/26 season. The theme of this year's special light and multimedia exhibition is the story of the eternal child Peter Pan.
