Budapest Ritmo, one of the most important world music festivals in Central Europe, will bring the best of the scene back to the heart of the Hungarian capital in 2023. Between 12 and 15 April, this festival of explorations will open up a world of music where a refreshingly new sound is guaranteed to throw everyone off their beaten track: whether it’s Icelandic pop, cumbia or Balkan ethno-jazz, the Ritmo has countless surprises in store, taking you on a journey through music, from the Ivory Coast to the Caucasus. In addition to the concerts, there will be film screenings and a professional conference.

Budapest Ritmo is jointly presented by Müpa Budapest and Hangvető in the framework of the Bartók Spring.

Our offer

Does the muse of inspiration matter? And what is a muse, exactly? What is the origin of music, lyrics and everything else that isn't created out of common sense, yet without which life would have no meaning?

The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble's nativity programme counts down to the night of the birth of Jesus, with scenes that are sometimes comic and other times heart-warming.

Pursuing happiness, love and affection through countless adventures across this great wide world, but still eventually finding a final peace in the arms of his beloved, Peer Gynt is one of the most complex characters in 19th-century drama. The challenges of staging and absorbing the play are always exceptional tests of strength for the director and the audience.
