Once again, Budapest Ritmo invites you on a special musical journey. This year, the entire festival will move to the House of Music Hungary, so along with the conference, the iconic Budapest venue will also host the complete concert programme between 9 and 11 April. But the Ritmo experience itself remains the same: come and discover the world’s many musical languages, ancient traditions blended with modern sounds and rarely heard instruments. It is an occasion to meet your new favourite artists.
The concerts will be preceded by a music conference, and the daytime showcase concerts will feature some of the region’s most exciting emerging talent.
Let’s embark on another musical adventure around the world, in the magical spaces of the House of Music Hungary!

04.09.
The 11th Budapest Ritmo kicks off with a free opening day at the House of Music Hungary, where three young up-and-coming bands make their debut in front of invited international experts and the Ritmo audience as part of the showcase program. Similar to last years, the concerts showcase fresh talents in world music, presenting a fusion of roots and contemporary influences interpreted by Hungarian and regional bands.

04.10.
Friday at Budapest Ritmo kicks off with an international conference program featuring panels, podium discussions, film screenings, speed meetings, and other networking opportunities for national and international professionals. The conference will be held in English.

The evening concert program welcomes audiences open to musical adventures at three illustrious halls of the House of Music Hungary: Ritmo’s spirit moves into the Concert Hall, Lecture Hall and the Sound Dome. On Friday, the collaboration of Serbian band Naked and Kossuth- and WOMEX award-winner Mónika Lakatos’ FolkTrió starts the show. Then Hakumba, one of the most exciting Hungarian bands of recent years follows, promising an exhilarating and energetic concert experience. An electrifying show is guaranteed by French electro duo Ko Shin Moon, whose music combines traditional Mediterranean instruments and analog synthesizers creating a unique psychedelic sound.

Saturday’s conference will spotlight the Hungarian music industry. Following a panel discussion on the future and financial opportunities, various Hungarian festivals will present short pitches to potential sponsors.

The evening concert program features performers from three continents. Magyar Banda starts the show combining folk music traditions with fresh, contemporary energy, followed by the Slovenian group Bakalina Velika, known for blending Balkan and jazz rhythms. The concert by dal:um promises a truly special experience, as they evoke the most beautiful musical traditions of South Korean folk music in a minimalist-experimental jazz style. To top off the day, Grupo Compay Segundo arrives straight from Cuba to transport us into the sparkling Havana night, preserving their legendary musical heritage.
